DESCRIPTION: Austria, a late 18th century, repeating bracket clock with mock pendulum, ebonized hardwood case on compressed, silvered ball feet, plain rectangular door allowing a veiw of the decorative dial, molded top with brass finials and caddy top with brass handle, case sides with tombstone arch windows, and back also with rectangular, glazed door, silvered repousse dial with C scrolls, flowers, and bowknot with laurel festoon, the upper corners pierced, and with green paper backing, brass roman numeral chapter ring with arabic five minute markers, blued steel beetle and poker hands, 30- 60 hour brass movement with crown wheel escapement, rack striking, and repeating the last hour on demand
CONDITION: case retains remnants of its ebonized surface, rear feet replaced, case with minor dings and scratches, caddy top with a more severe dent and minor loss, finials replaced, handle on backwards, dial with minor tarnish and losses to silvering, hands with minor loss to blue, movement with fingerprint stains, ticking, strike and repeat functional, gathering pallet not moving rack far enough for successive teeth to reach hook, and so strikes until the spring winds down, stopwork removed
